West Ham could be set for a busy summer transfer window, particularly if they qualify for the Champions League as they remain in the hunt to break into the top four in the Premier League, also advancing to the Europa League quarter-finals with the belief that they can go on and win the tournament.

However, with midfielders Manuel Lanzini and Declan Rice heavily linked with moves away from the London Stadium, David Moyes may be forced to consider finding their replacements, instead of players to build around them in the team.

Keeping hold of Rice will be a priority, and if they can, they will be looking to improve upon Lanzini – with Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum linked with a potential move to the London Stadium.

According to TEAMtalk, West Ham are in the mix with Arsenal and Newcastle for the Dutchman’s signature, while Atletico Madrid and AC Milan are also reportedly watching his situation.

However, the report added that the 31-year-old seemingly prefers a move back to England should he leave France, where he has struggled to make a good impression.

Against Sevilla on Thursday night, Moyes deployed a 4-3-3 formation which was hugely effective in asserting control in the middle of the park, and it just happens to be the same formation in which Wijnaldum excelled during his time at Liverpool, lining up on the left of the trio – just like Lanzini did last night.

Having started just 15 of his 23 Ligue 1 games this season, it probably won’t come as a surprise that the £22.5m-rated ace has had a hand in just four league goals, which is still an improvement on last season’s tally of two goal contributions in the English top flight.
