Motorist arrested on suspicion of drug driving also has no insurance

Greater Manchester Police have arrested a motorist on suspicion of drug driving after apprehending him in his transit in Ashton-under-Lyne.

Officers stopped the vehicle on Monday night (August 8) after noticing his rear lights weren’t working, but they also found him to be in possession of a quantity of cannabis. They drug tested him on the spot and a saliva sample returned positive.

Enquiries also revealed that the transit was not insured. The vehicle was duly seized and the driver was taken into custody.

The public are asked to dial 999 immediately in an emergency or call 101 for those non-emergency incidents.
