MotoGP Silverstone: Dixon silences the doubters

Aspar’s Jake Dixon rode to his second podium of 2022 with a determined third place battle in his home GP at Silverstone on Sunday.

The Brit was forced to dig deep at times as he slipped back through the pack at the start of the 18-lap race. Regrouping from seventh before embarking on a four-rider-battle with Flexbox HP40’s Aron Canet, Honda’s Ai Ogura and eventual winner Augusto Fernandez in the second half of the contest, Dixon crossed the line a second clear of the duo behind after setting his fastest lap of the race on the final revolution.

“Honestly, I’m super happy,” Dixon enthused from Parc Fermé. “Words can’t describe it! I know it’s only a third place but this really feels like a victory! Especially from where I came from at the beginning of the race, to where I was at the end. It feels so amazing,

“I can’t thank the crowd enough, can’t thank the team enough, can’t thank everybody, my family, friends, everyone that’s come here this weekend to support me. Oh my god, it’s been so good.
