MotoGP Catalunya Test: Vinales chasing flow, ‘still rigid on the bike’

Maverick Viñales’ adaptation to the Aprilia RS-GP took another step across the Catalan GP and test with the Spaniard securing seventh in both.

While the start delayed his progress on race day, Monday’s test allowed Viñales to continue to fine-tune his riding style on the Noale machine with the 27-year-old building in confidence after 77 promising development laps.

“I think overall it’s a very positive test,” Viñales commented on Monday night. “We try a few things. Aprilia is working so hard. We have aero package, different chassis, different swingarm, many things, many important things. So we focus a lot and for me it’s very interesting to try different chassis because still I don’t feel I have the flow.

“I’m a little bit rigid on the bike still. So I need to try to get better feelings, better feedback from the bike. I think the new chassis is more on the area to give me something new, is totally different rigidity. To make me improve.

“We try things for the setting as well to try to improve with my riding style which I think we accomplished so we finish this test very happy with a lot of motivation because we know in Sachsenring we can do a good race.

“We were very focused on the last part of braking and off brake,” he continued. “That area we need to improve and actually we did a step forward during the test. So looks like we are more confident for the next race. So we can’t wait to be in Sachsenring and give it all.”
