MotoGP Catalunya: ‘It’s really coming together’ - Ogden

Fielding three riders for the Catalan GP, VisionTrack Racing extended their points haul at Barcelona thanks to Scott Ogden’s 14th place finish.

A dramatic qualifying session on Saturday saw both regular riders crash in Q1 with Ogden already securing his passage through to the final shootout. A full team effort got the Doncaster rider back out and on his way to 13th on the grid in around five minutes with wildcard Syarifuddin Azman and Josh Whatley set to line up in 26th and 30th respectively.

Race day provided another frantic Moto3 affair, as after initially coming round in 14th position Scott made a small mistake and dropped back to 22nd position. He fought his way back through but unfortunately a crash in the front pack split the group apart and he crossed the line in 14th position. Syarifuddin hung on to the coat tails of the main pack in the early stages of the race and crossed the line 20th with Josh retiring from the race having received a long lap penalty 12 laps into the race.

“I was pleased with the pace we showed in particular sessions, it’s really coming together now,’ Ogden said after the race. “I feel like I have the pace to be in the front but there’s a little bit we need to battle with them now.

“Overall I’m happy with the team and how everything is going.”

“Eventful weekend! Whatley admitted. “Showed we have decent pace to be up there. I’m really disappointed with today. Thanks to the team for the non stop hard work and support!”

“I need to take my hat off to the mechanics this weekend as they did such an amazing job with Scott’s bike in Q1,”Team Manager Taylor Mackenzie added. “We’ve made some big improvements with our bike over the last few events and I’m sure we’ll see the results we deserve as a team
