MotoGP Austin: Espargaro looking to rebuild at COTA

Pol Espargaro saw his MotoGP podium potential disappear in the Termas dust last Sunday as the Repsol Honda crashed out from fourth.

Just a few days later, Espargaro is looking to bounce back as the paddock sets up in Texas for the Americas GP. Having secured a top ten at COTA last October, the Spaniard is eager to analyse his RC213V and the progress made at the start of his sophomore season with Honda.

Espargaro sits 25 points behind his championship-leading brother as they head into round four, and with teammate Marc Marquez back alongside, at the track synonymous with the eight-time champion, things could be looking up for the 30-year-old.

“After the disappointment of last race I am looking forward to riding again this week,” Espargaro confirmed.

“Austin was not the easiest circuit for us last year but with the new bike it’s interesting to come and compare what we did last year to this year.

“Already it looks like there will be many people in the mix for the championship this year so we need to get back to scoring points and putting together weekends like the start of the year. It’s time to get some more points on the board and start building something.”
