MotoGP: Alex Rins eager to race in Assen as he hopes wrist holds up

MotoGP rider Alex Rins says he is hoping that his wrist is going to be more bearable this weekend as he eyes a return to the bike at Assen.

The Dutch Grand Prix plays host to the final MotoGP race before the summer break, and all the riders will want to head into it on a positive footing.

Rins might just be content to get back riding, though, after having to miss the German Grand Prix at the Sachsenring thanks to the wrist injury he picked up at the start of the Spanish Grand Prix in the crash with Taka Nakagami.

Indeed, speaking ahead of the weekend, he revealed he’s hoping to be back fit and that his wrist will hold up, whilst also hoping the doctors give him the all-clear as well:

“It was difficult for me to watch Sachsenring from the sidelines, but I had to make a careful and considered decision and do what’s best in the long run. Waiting an extra few days should have allowed my wrist to heal a bit more, and I’m hoping that this time the pain will be more bearable.

“I’ll seek advice from the doctors and try to take the weekend session-by-session, but for sure I’m very keen to race here in Assen – it’s a truly amazing place!”
