Over the past few years, in addition to spending hefty amounts of money on bringing numerous players into the club, Everton have also sold several players to other clubs for big transfer fees such as Lucas Digne, Idrissa Gueye and Romelu Lukaku to name a few.

One other player that made a big move away from Goodison Park for a large transfer fee is defender John Stones, who joined fellow Premier League side Manchester City in the 2016 summer transfer window in a deal worth a reported fee of £47.5m.

Since then, the 27-year-old, who is currently picking up a weekly wage of £200k-per-week according to Salary Sport, has gone on to make 182 appearances across all competitions for Pep Guardiola’s side in which he has managed to chip in with 12 goals and provide two assists along the way.

Back in December 2018, Transfermarkt had the England international’s market value listed as £54m, not too far off what Everton picked up for him from the Manchester club, however, his value now stands at £25.2m making it a drop of 53.3%.

With that in mind, it could be argued that Farhad Moshiri pulled a blinder in picking up such a hefty transfer fee for the former Toffees centre-back when they did.

Despite winning a plethora of domestic trophies and playing in the Champions League every year, Stones’ time at the Etihad Stadium hasn’t always been particularly smooth.

Now into his sixth season as a City player, the most amount of Premier League games that the centre-back has played in during one campaign is 27, which came during his first year at the club.
