Moreeng to take 'a lot of positives', hails Wolvaardt's maturity as Proteas skipper

Proteas coach Hilton Moreeng hailed his side following their 11-run victory against New Zealand in the fifth and final T20 at Willowmoore Park in Benoni on Sunday.

Chasing a mere 156 on a used Benoni pitch, and with Amelia Kerr and Suzie Bates' 97-run partnership, the outcome favoured the tourists.

However, Masabata Klaas and Nadine de Klerk produced stellar death bowling as they deceived the White Ferns, who sat comfortably at 130-2 before reeling at 138-8.

Klaas and De Klerk spurred on a New Zealand batting collapse as the visitors eventually fell 11 runs short of their target.

South Africa's efforts with the ball saw them level the weather-affected T20 series after the opening three were rained out.

"It shows a lot of growth, they always had seniors around them," Moreeng told reporters on Sunday.

"They had an opportunity now to start executing, getting game time and understanding the pressure and how they react to that and how they execute their skills.

"We know going forward, they're the bowlers that are putting up their hands and they're putting the right performances. We're very happy for them because they put in a lot of hard work. We know what they're capable of it.

"They've been consistent, persistent and very good team-mates to have around the team. So we're very glad for the performances they put and I think at the end of the day, we can only improve on it."

The Proteas also sealed the three-match ODI series 2-1, and Moreeng is delighted to see
