"More likely now" - Transfer insider drops intriguing Leeds United claim involving £30m star

Leeds United’s decision to appoint Jesse Marsch as their new head coach has made a summer move for long-term Whites target Brenden Aaronson ‘all the more likely’, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Marsch was unveiled as the Premier League strugglers’ boss on Monday, just 24 hours after previous chief Marcelo Bielsa was sacked.

According to the Daily Star, Leeds believe Marsch’s strong links to Aaronson could help them to eventually get a deal over the line for the Red Bull Salzburg ace.

The report suggests the Whites remain interested in the creative midfielder and Marsch has told chairman Andrea Radrizzani he is a big admirer of Aaronson, leading to him urging the club to push ahead with plans to lure him to Elland Road.

Marsch managed his fellow countryman during his time at the Salzburg helm, with him selecting Aaronson 25 appearances during his tenure.

Leeds failed in their attempts to secure the 21-year-old’s services in January as they saw bids of £15million and £20million turned down by Salzburg.

The Austrian Bundesliga title contenders are reportedly looking to recoup a fee in the region of £30million for the 18-cap United States international.

Jones believes Marsch’s arrival at Elland Road has improved the likelihood of Aaronson joining Leeds in the summer.

The transfer insider understands Marsch is already looking at potential targets just a matter of days after linking up with the Yorkshire giants.

He feels Aaronson is likely to be on the American’s shortlist ahead of potentially pulling off a deal when the transfer window reopens.
