Molineux latest news: Wolves are 'very underrated' in the Premier League this season

Journalist Pete O’Rourke reckons that Wolves are one of the most underrated teams in the Premier League and has highlighted the work that Bruno Lage has done with their defence.

Wolves have been in outstanding form in 2022 and moved into contention for the top four after winning at Tottenham last weekend.

Manchester United, West Ham, Arsenal and Tottenham are the four sides being mentioned in the conversation to finish fourth, but Lage’s side are quietly going about their business and are on course to defy the odds.

Since the turn of the year, Wolves have already won at Tottenham and Manchester United, keeping clean sheets at both and have collected 12 points from a possible 15 available.

The victory at Spurs saw them climb to seventh, although the Molineux outfit are still six points behind fourth.

However, Wolves have two games in hand on both United and West Ham and are facing a potential season-defining week starting with Leicester on Sunday. After that, they travel to Arsenal before another trip to London at the Hammers three days later.

A good points return from those three fixtures could see Wolves emerge as not only favourites to qualify for Europe, but a potentially a place in the Champions League next season.

Part of their success has been down to their incredible defensive numbers. Lage’s men have let in just 17 goals in their 23 games, bettered only by leaders Manchester City, who’ve conceded 14.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I think Wolves are a very underrated team in the Premier League. They’re going about their business quietly and are defensively one of the best in the Premier League.”
