Molineux latest news: Raul Jimenez's return to fitness has been a 'huge boost' for Wolves

The return to fitness of Raul Jimenez has been a “huge boost” for Wolves, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Jimenez was forced to miss the final six months of last season after suffering a serious head injury against Arsenal in November 2020 but is just starting to find his feet under Bruno Lage.

When the Wolves striker sustained that sickening blow against the Gunners, playing football again would have seemed a million miles away for the Mexican.

But after months of regaining his fitness and sharpness in front of goal, Jimenez is finally starting to look like his old self. His goalscoring numbers might not be as good as previous seasons, but his goal against Tottenham, his 53rd for the club, was his fifth of the season, to go with his two assists.

According to WhoScored, Jimenez has been Wolves’ 10th-best player this season, although no one else in gold has managed more goals or assists than the 30-year-old.

Jimenez has scored twice in his last four top-flight games, which has coincided with Wolves’ fine run of form, which has seen them emerge as shock top four contenders following 12 points from their last 15 available.

When asked about the Mexican’s fortunes this season, he told GIVEMESPORT: “Jimenez returning to fitness has been a huge boost for Wolves.”

While Jimenez made a slow start to the season, with only one goal in his first nine appearances, he’s shown little signs of rustiness.

His stunning opener and all-round performance at Tottenham last weekend showed exactly what he’s all about, while proving that he’s clearly moved on from his sickening head injury.

Jimenez will be hoping to kick on and improve his goal record in the business
