Contract talks between Liverpool and Mohamed Salah are believed to have broken down.
The Reds are hoping to agree a long-term extension with the Egypt international, 29, who has just 15 months remaining on his existing deal.
Sources close to the agent Ramy Abbas Issa have suggested Liverpool’s last contract offer, which came towards the end of last year, was rejected out of hand by the player’s representative.
It is understood no talks have taken place since December, with Abbas making clear he will not come back to the negotiating table, and Salah will not sign a new contract, unless improved terms are received.
It also confirmed that talks are far from reaching a conclusion, despite some reports earlier in the week emanating from Egypt that there had been a breakthrough.
Rumours suggest the former Chelsea forward "would be happy" to join another Premier League club if Liverpool do not fulfil his requirements.
Liverpool made what they felt was a compelling contract offer to Salah in December, but it is thought the Egyptian star feels it doesn’t match his worth, or the contracts of similar talents such as Kevin De Bruyne.
