Mohamed Salah issues firm warning to Man City before Liverpool title showdown

Egypt sensation Mohamed Salah says now is not the time to be selfish over contract talks as Liverpool prepare to do battle with title rivals Manchester City on Sunday afternoon. Chasing an unprecedented quadruple this season, the Reds are gearing up for a mouth-watering Premier League showdown against the champions.

Victory in that game would see Liverpool go top with a two-point advantage and seven games to play. However, City harbour their own treble ambitions as they continue to launch assaults domestically and across Europe in the Champions League. As things stand, City are one point clear.

The sides have already been drawn against other in the FA Cup and might yet meet in Europe, as well, but for the time being Premier League ascendancy takes centre stage. Salah, meanwhile, says there is no other option but for him to put off-field discussions to one side as he enters the final 16 months of his deal.

Liverpool and Salah's representatives have yet to come to an agreement. However, while that's bubbling away in the background, the 29-year-old says he has his eyes firmly on the prize.

During a lengthy interview with Sky Sports, the Liverpool dangerman said: "There are many things people don't know about it. I can't be selfish and talk about my situation, because we are in the most important period for the team. I have to talk about the team, focus on what is coming for the team. That's the most important thing.

"That's all I can say. Hopefully we are going to be more optimistic and see what is going to happen."
