Mo Salah: The 13 Premier League players who earn more than Liverpool star
Mohamed Salah‘s future at Liverpool Football Club is up in the air right now.
On Friday afternoon, reports emerged detailing that the Egyptian superstar had rejected a new contract offer from the club and that talks had broken down.
Salah’s main objective is to stay at Liverpool, but transfer guru Fabrizio Romano provided another update on Saturday in which he outlined that the player “definitely turned down” a proposal from the Reds back in December.
While the former Chelsea man will remain professional, which he highlighted against Brighton by scoring a penalty in a 2-0 victory, it’s a real shame for the club and fans that things are starting to get a bit messy.
The primary issue with regards to the contract saga is wages, with Salah and his agent Ramy Abbas Issa demanding improved terms in that regard.
According to Spotrac, the free-scoring winger currently earns £200,000-a-week, making him the joint-highest earner at Liverpool along with Virgil van Dijk and Thiago Alcantara.
So you may be asking, what’s the big problem then? Well, 13 Premier League players currently earn more than that six-figure sum each week and Salah clearly feels he deserves to be closer to them – which is fair enough when you’re the division’s best player.
Below, we’ve provided the footballers operating in the English top-flight right now who’re on higher salaries than Salah and there are certainly a few shock names that feature…
Edinson Cavani (Manchester United) – £250,000-a-week
John Stones (Manchester City) – £250,000-a-week
