Arsenal’s defeat against Southampton has seriously hampered their chances for a place in the Champions League next season. However, Mikel Arteta can try to reverse the fortunes by utilising Nicolas Pepe as a striker.

The Gunners have looked weak in the striker position, with Alexandre Lacazette or Eddie Nketiah yet to score from open play in the Premier League this year. The lack of goals from the frontman has been the reason Arsenal have not secured a place in the top four.

Arteta must find a solution within the squad after failing to sign a striker in the January transfer window. Pepe could certainly be the answer.

He has three years remaining on his contract, meaning towards the end of the season, the club will have to come to a decision whether or not to sell him, but his career at the club could be rejuvenated if given a chance in the striker role.
