Mikel Arteta’s post-match interview v Tottenham given Snapchat crying filter treatment
Mikel Arteta’s prickly post-match interview after Arsenal’s 3-0 defeat to rivals Tottenham has been given the Snapchat crying filter treatment on social media.
Arteta was fuming after the final whistle, telling Sky Sports’ Geoff Shreeves that he’d be “suspended for six months” if he said what was on his mind.
“I am allowed to give my interpretation of what happened in the game,” he continued, “but I don’t know how to lie and I don’t like lying. So I prefer not to say what I think.”
Arsenal were reduced to 10 men in the first half when defender Rob Holding was shown two yellow cards in seven minutes for fouls on Son Heung-min.
Harry Kane netted a first half brace, while Son got on the scoresheet early in the second half, as fifth-placed Spurs closed the gap on fourth-placed Arsenal to one point with only two fixtures remaining.
“I cannot say what I think. I will be suspended,” Arteta added. “Get the referee to come in front of the camera and explain his decisions. They are his decisions. It’s a shame because such a beautiful game was destroyed today.”
Rivals fans were quick to mock Arteta for complaining after his side were comprehensively beaten in Thursday’s north London derby.
But one Chelsea supporter went one step further and added Snapchat’s crying face filter over the top of the TV interview.
