Mikel Arteta reveals the Arsenal player he has to stop from training twice a day

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has heaped praise on Martin Odegaard's attitude and approach to training.

The Norwegian playmaker joined on a permanent basis in the summer following a short-term loan with the Gunners last season. The talented midfielder has enjoyed a productive season with the north London outfit, notching six goals and four assists across all competitions.

Now, Arteta has hailed the 23-year-old for the way he trains, claiming that he sometimes has to stop the youngster from training twice in the same day. Speaking to Norwegian media outlet TV2, the Spaniard said: "Martin has a special passion for football.

"He wants to talk about football, he wants to get better and he wants to understand why things happen. He is extremely open.

"He will do anything to reach the level he can reach. He has developed so much this season. I have to stop him. Martin will train in the afternoon and in the evening in addition to everything else. You have to stop him. He just wants more and more."

Odegaard and Co helped Arsenal climb to fourth in the Premier League table earlier this year but a slump in form has seen them drop down to sixth, below local rivals Tottenham Hotspur, as well as Ralf Rangnick's Manchester United. Arteta's men have lost four of their last five league outings and the former Manchester City assistant coach will be desperate to get his side back to winning ways when they travel to west London on Wednesday night to take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
