Mikel Arteta has hit out at the Premier League for the second time, having branded Arsenal 's schedule "not fair".

The Gunners boss railed against top-flight chiefs after his side were beaten 2-0 at the Emirates by Liverpool on Wednesday night. The two sides had been due to meet on Saturday 26 February but the Reds' participation in the Carabao Cup final that weekend meant the fixture was played this midweek.

Arsenal only had two full days to prepare for the visit of Liverpool after their convincing 2-0 victory over Leicester on Sunday afternoon. They have the same amount of time to ready themselves for their next contest, a trip to an Aston Villa side who have won three of their last four fixtures.

Arteta could not hide his fury about Arsenal's fixture list after the defeat by Liverpool and pointed out they will have another quick turnaround in April, hosting Manchester United in the early kick-off on Saturday 23rd, having faced Chelsea on the night of Wednesday 20th, following the Premier League's decision not to allow them to play the game on Tuesday, April 19.

"Thank you so much to the Premier League to do that," the Spaniard said
