Mikel Arteta bemoans Man United and Chelsea fixture list advantage

Arsenal fell to defeat on Wednesday night after an incredibly encouraging performance against Premier League title chasers, Liverpool.

The Gunners threw the proverbial kitchen sink at their guests in the first half, pinning Liverpool back in their box with some delightfully intricate and concise play.

Gabriel Martinelli was having an absolute field day down the left flank, turning on the flair, speed and guile to run Trent Alexander Arnold ragged.

Liverpool, however, clicked through the gears in the second half, helping themselves to two goals to kill off the game and the spirited Arsenal vanguard.

There were still many positives for the north London side, however, none more so than the fact that they remain in pole position for that highly coveted fourth Champions League slot.

They will, however, want to arrest the slide at just one loss with a glut of sides looking to pounce should they slip up further.
