And from next season, Premier League managers have won their battle over Saturday lunchtime kick-offs in Champions League weeks. Arteta was furious with the Premier League for rescheduling their London derby with Chelsea next month on a Wednesday night less than 72 hours before they entertain Manchester United live on Saturday lunchtime in a BT Sport fixture.

Arsenal face the same issue this week having lost to Liverpool on Wednesday they must go to Aston Villa on Saturday lunchtime and Arteta could not contain his anger. It comes after Arsenal made representations to both the Premier League and also Sky over the Chelsea game which was rearranged for April 20.

The Gunners wanted to play Chelsea on Tuesday, April 19, to give them more recovery time ahead of what could be a crunch game with United in the battle for top four while their previous game at Southampton was on Saturday, April 16.
