Mike Tyson: Footage of Iron Mike destroying opponent with terrifying uppercut

Mike Tyson‘s signature move is one of the most terrifying sights in boxing history.

The move sees Tyson throw a right hook to his opponent’s body with his right hand, before quickly following it up with a right uppercut to the chin upstairs.

Nicknamed ‘Iron Mike’, Tyson used this brutal combination to devastating effect against Lorenzo Boyd, Jesse Ferguson and Jose Ribalta.

A 20-year-old Tyson knocked out Ribalta in 1986 three months before knocking out Trevor Berbick to become the youngest heavyweight champion of all time.

Back then, Tyson was seemingly an unstoppable force of nature, having stopped 24 of his 27 previous opponents by way of knockout.

But it still took him ten rounds to finish Ribalta who showed a tremendous amount of heart and courage.

After Tyson began to find a home for his right hooks and uppercuts, Ribalta found himself on the canvas in the second round, but he gingerly got back to his feet.

The same thing happened again in the eight round, probably the most action-packed of the fight, as Ribalta did his best to stave off waves of attacks from the smaller Tyson.

In the final round however he wasn’t so lucky as despite again getting up he couldn’t survive the final bell after eating a monstrous right hand which prompted the referee to step in and wave off the fight.

But despite this, Tyson insisted Ribalta was the only opponent capable of taking his power.

The American incredibly claimed the Cuban boxer had a better chin than the likes of Frank Bruno, Evander Holyfield and Lennox Lewis.

Back in 2014, Tyson told Ring Magazine: “I hit Jose Ribalta with everything, and he took everything and kept coming back for more.

“Jose Ribalta stood toe to toe with me. He was very strong in the clinches.”
