Mike Tyson claims Deontay Wilder should be happy despite Tyson Fury defeats

Boxing legend Mike Tyson believes Deontay Wilder ‘should be very happy’ with himself despite suffering back-to-back defeats to Tyson Fury.

The Bronze Bomber lost his WBC heavyweight title to the Gypsy King in February 2020 after drawing the first of their trilogy fights.

Fury confirmed he had agreed to fight fellow Brit Anthony Joshua in Saudi Arabia before an arbitration ruling found in favour of the American.

The two warriors then met for a third time five months ago as they put on a battle for the ages in front of a sold-out crowd at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas last October.

But despite showing obvious signs of improvement, it still wasn’t enough as Fury hit Wilder with a right hand to the head which left him face down on the canvas in the 11th round to settle their long-running feud.

However, Iron Mike insists Wilder has nothing to be ashamed of, as he simply lost to the better man on the night.

During an appearance on FOX Sports’ Club Shay Shay podcast hosted by former NFL star Shannon Sharpe, he said: “I’m always entertained when those guys fight.

“I think Wilder should fight some other guys too, he would do good man.

“I don’t want him to get discouraged, he should be very happy, and he should get ready to fight somebody else right away.

“I would love to see that fight with Anthony Joshua yes.

“There isn’t going to be much style they are just gonna [sic] be swinging.”

Wilder had previously insisted he has no intentions of retiring anytime soon, telling his fiancée Terri Swift that ‘the best is yet to come’ as he fuelled talk of a possible comeback.

But it seems he may be about to change his mind with the 36-year-old recently suggesting he could hang up his gloves for good.
