Mike Cooper addresses future speculation

Warrington forward Mike Cooper has addressed speculation surrounding his future beyond 2022. 

The 33-year-old made his debut with Warrington in 2006, and went on to make more than 100 appearances before making a switch to the NRL.

He featured for St George Illawarra Dragons before returning to the Halliwell Jones Stadium in 2017 on a three-year deal.

Cooper signed an extended two-year contract during his testimonial year in 2020, which will run out at the end of the current season.

He has been linked with a move to Huddersfield which could see him reunite with team-mate Chris Hill.

When asked by Sky Sports about his future following last night’s 12-10 defeat to St Helens, he replied: “I don’t know anything yet.

“The speculation is just for the media. I’ve always been a proud Warringtonian, I give my heart and soul to this club every week and I try my best. I’ve loved every minute here and it’s down to the club to announce.

“I’m a proud Warringtonian. These things sometimes get taken out your hands and that’s just the way it is. I’ve given my all for this club and it’ll be down to the club to announce anything.”

Huddersfield head coach Ian Watson has confirmed the club’s interest in Wigan centre Jake Bibby.
