Mick Schumacher reveals 'high hopes' for Haas success in Formula 1 this season

Haas driver Mick Schumacher says that he is looking forward to the 2022 season and that knowing what to now expect in Formula 1 is going to hopefully help him have a more successful year than 2021.

Schumacher’s rookie season was always going to be tough with Haas saying at the start of the year that they were not going to be developing their car during the campaign, leaving the German and Nikita Mazepin rather glued to the rear of the field.

This year, though, Haas are going to be putting full effort in during the season in terms of development with them using their time in 2021 to prepare for this campaign’s new regulations.

Speaking to Speedweek, then, Schumacher has said that he is looking forward to 2022 and has hopes that some form of success could be achieved:

“Knowing what to expect and how the season is developing is obviously helpful.

“There are always things you can learn, it never stops, and when the rules change so much it also affects the learning curve.

“I probably know a bit better how to deal with everything, so I also hope it will go a bit better than last year.

“This year, I go to venues knowing what to expect, so that means I don’t have to fight my way through the traffic in FP1 and can straight away start developing the car and set-up.

“It’s just super-beneficial that if you start off with a close set-up then you are very quickly, let’s say in FP2, sure of your set-up.

“Then the whole Saturday becomes so much easier because you can just focus on the points you need for qualifying. So my hope is very high for this year and the expectations are also quite high.”
