Michelin Guide pub tells customer they 'wish she'd gone to McDonald's'

A Michelin Guide pub and restaurant in Lancashire has hit back at an unhappy customer saying they 'wished she'd gone to McDonald's instead'.

The White Bull, in Oswaldtwistle, is the number one ranked restaurant in the East Lancashire town on Tripadvisor and the 23rd best ranked in the whole of Lancashire, LancsLive reports. The pub also has a Travellers Choice 2023 Award, meaning it is among the top 10 per cent of attractions in the world that are listed on Tripadvisor.

The restaurant is more of a traditional pub by nature, with it making the 2023 Michelin Guide, who said about it: "This neighbourhood pub’s menus cover everything from bar nibbles to pub classics; they offer lunch, afternoon tea and dinner – and even serve breakfast on Sundays. The endearing team take care in everything they do, portions are generous, and dishes not only look good but taste good too. The traditional Lancashire cheese, onion and ale pie is a must-try."

But one review in the past month has seen one diner wish they'd gone to fast food chain McDonald's instead of the highly rated venue near Accrington. Reviewer Sheila B posted her 2/5 review headlined: "Not the best experience at the White Bull. Wish we’d gone to McDonalds."

Sheila, who is allergic to shellfish, said she was told she couldn't have chips due to prawns being fried in the same pan as the potatoes. She also hit out at the service.
