Michael Schumacher's 1998 Ferrari F300 F1 car goes on sale with a 'modest' price
Michael Schumacher's Ferrari F300 from the 1998 championship has been put up for sale for the princely sum of $4.9 million via exotic car sales house duPont Registry.
Schumacher, who was trailing title rival Mika Hakkinen by only four points, produced a memorable performance in the Suzuka finale but ultimately came up short after suffering a tire failure.
The German's early retirement handed the race win to Hakkinen and, with it, the Finnish driver's first Drivers' Championship.
This after Schumacher qualified on pole only to be consigned to the rear of the pack after stalling on the formation lap.
The $4.9 million is seen as a somewhat modest fee given that Schumacher's F2002 sold for $6.6 million in 2019.
However, interested buyers and collectors will have to see the car in person to assess its condition, with duPont Registry giving no details on the iconic F300's current state. View the listing here.
