Michael O’Neill confirms the situation with Stoke City’s Tyrese Campbell

Stoke City manager Michael O’Neill has revealed that although Tyrese Campbell left the Bet365 Stadium yesterday in a leg-brace, it is currently too early to diagnose the severity of the 22-year-old’s issue.

Campbell was substituted on the stroke of half-time during the club’s meeting with Swansea City after picking up a problem in this fixture.

Stoke went on to secure all three points in-front of their supporters as they produced an impressive attacking display in the second-half.

Jaden Philogene-Bidace opened the scoring for the Potters in the 47th minute as he fired past Swansea goalkeeper Andy Fisher.

Lewis Baker then doubled his side’s advantage from the penalty spot after Ryan Bennett was sent off for a handball on the goal line.

Jacob Brown added a third for Stoke in the closing stages of the fixture as they eased to victory.

As a result of this triumph, the Potters moved to within three points of the play-off places as they climbed up to 10th in the Championship standings.

Following the game, O’Neill shared an update on Campbell’s injury.

Speaking to BBC Radio Stoke about the forward, O’Neill said: “It’s too early to say, you know he’s in a leg-brace there but that’s precautionary so I don’t want to cast any aspersions on that.

“But it’s not the injured knee that he had previously so we are just going to see how that is and we’ll see how that settles down overnight.”
