Michael Chandler shows off gruesomely dislocated finger after UFC 274

Winning comes at a price, and for Michael Chandler, it came in the form of a gruesomely dislocated finger.

Following his knockout win over Tony Ferguson at UFC 274, Chandler took to social media to show off a swollen ring finger.

The injury left a significant bulge at the base of his finger, inevitably reducing its range of motion.

Speaking on the Pat McAfee Show, Iron admitted that he had actually sustained the injury whilst warming up for the fight with his training partner.

“I dislocated my finger about 20-30 minutes before the fight, blocking a kick,” Chandler said. “My buddy Marquez, great training partner of mine, he was throwing kicks. I had this great idea.”

“Warmup was already done, I’m going out in about 10-20 minutes, and I go, ‘Hey, throw some high kicks at me and I’ll block them and go body shot.’

“And he threw a normal kick like he’s done 1,000 times at me and I ended up going fingernail all the way back, bent it all the way back.”

The injury did not hamper the former Bellator champion, however, who went on to deliver a highlight-reel front kick KO.

UFC president Dana White labeled the stoppage “vicious”, with Ferguson handed a two-month medical suspension.
