Miami Open Final: Iga Swiatek stuns Naomi Osaka in historic title win

Iga Świątek rounded off a stunning Miami Open campaign by defeating Naomi Osaka in the final to lift her third consecutive WTA 1000 title.

The 20-year-old has taken the tennis calendar by storm this year and her victory in Florida makes her just the fourth woman in history to win the ‘Sunshine Double’ — the Indian Wells and Miami Open title in the same year.

Świątek joins tennis greats Stefi Graf, Kim Clijsters, and Victoria Azarenka in winning the rare ‘Sunshine Double’ feat.

Once the 20-year-old rises to the top of the WTA rankings for the first time in her career on Monday, all four of the listed women will have held world number one status.

Świątek also becomes the first ever woman to win the first three WTA 1000 events of the calendar year. She joins just Serena Williams and Caroline Wozniacki as the only players to win three consecutive WTA 1000 titles in a single year.

After reaching the semi-final of the Australian Open, she dominated in the Qatar
