Metrolink tram stop neighbours 'under siege' after fire alarm blares 'all night'

Residents have been left fuming over an alarm at a tram stop repeatedly blaring over 'several weeks' - including overnight. The fire alarm, at Radcliffe Metrolink station, has been reported to the council and Transport for Greater Manchester, according to those living nearby.

Gaynor Clarkson, who has been struggling to concentrate working from home due to the noise, reported the racket to Bury council for the first time on May 19. Seven weeks on, she says the alarm has finally been put to a stop after she was visited by environmental health officers on Monday.

A video taken by Gaynor shows the car park at the newly extended tram stop, as the loud fire alarm can be heard ringing out from behind her house. In a post she shared publicly on July 6, she added "my neighbours and I feel under siege."

Bury council have since said there appeared to be a fault which has caused the alarm to ring out on multiple occasions. They reported it to Metrolink, who say that it has also been set off numerous times
