Met Office say 'hint' of weather changing in June but give warning

Those hoping for a sunny weekend, especially Parklife goers, will have to settle for cool and windy weather as better weather is not due until the end of the month.

Wind is coming down on the UK from the north, with high pressure in the west and low pressure sitting to the north-east of the country, the Met Office's senior operational meteorologist, Marco Petagna, has said.

He continued by stating that the weather will remain unsettled into next week but there is a 'hint' the weather could settle down at the end of the month. However, they warned that any change in the weather is still 'quite a way off'.

On Saturday the South and South East will patches of rain that will gradually come away while Wales, Northern Ireland, West Midlands and the North of England could see the odd shower. Petagna said it the weather would be colder up north, saying that it will be 'chilly' with temperatures on Saturday likely to stay between 11C and 15C.

The average temperature for this time of year is typically between 11C and 16C in the north making this weekend's weather most likely to be 'average or just below' but the showers and breezes will make it feel much colder. The rain is expected to move to other parts of the country overnight into Sunday.

Across Northern Ireland, south-west Scotland, parts of northern England and North Wales there will be outbreaks of rain on Sunday, with the south seeing sunshine despite staying chilly, with frost visible first thing in the morning.
