Lionel Messi has certainly struggled to score goals since joining Paris Saint-Germain.

The man who famously scored 91 times in a single calendar has just seven to his name across all competitions in 2021/22.

But while the goals have dried up, Messi has still been something close to his creative best in recent months at PSG.

In 15 Ligue 1 appearances, the 34-year-old superstar has assisted eight goals, which is a mighty fine return.

Messi’s assists in 2021/22 mean he’s now set yet another incredible record. The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner is the first player to record 200 assists in Europe’s top five leagues.

That’s a serious achievement and one Reddit user has responded to the marvellous feat by working out the players directly behind him in terms of creative output using FBref.
