Mercedes unveil classy 2022 F1 car as Lewis Hamilton returns & George Russell arrives
Mercedes have unveiled their 2022 Formula 1 car; the W13, with Lewis Hamilton and George Russell ready to team up and try and maintain the Silver Arrows’ dominance of recent years.
This launch was perhaps the most eagerly anticipated of all with speculation rife in the last couple of months over Hamilton’s future in the sport, following on from the controversial ending to the 2021 season in Abu Dhabi, which denied him an 8th world title.
However, Lewis was at the launch and looked raring to go for the 2022 campaign, with new team-mate George Russell beside him to complete an all-British line-up for the boys from Brackley.
Indeed, it’s a new driver dynamic from the one that served Mercedes so well since 2017 in Hamilton & Valtteri Bottas, but there is no reason why this should not be as successful with Lewis possessing bags of championship and race-winning experience and George one of the most talented younger drivers on the grid, with his own victory winning past in Formula 2 and other formulae.
Potentially, it’s the best driver pairing on the grid and this is the machine that they are going to be using to try and make that a fact, with Mercedes opting to bring back silver to their livery after a couple of years in all black to show their support for the BLM movement:
The return of the Silver Arrows.
