MEN announces exciting plan to boost women's football coverage after Lionesses Euro 2022 triumph
Manchester United Women and Manchester City Women are gearing up for the 2022/23 Women's Super League season - and we've got it covered as part of our exciting new commitment to women's football.
With the WSL set to kick off next month, the Manchester Evening News will be covering every single City and United match. The buzz around the women's game is at an all-time high in this country, sparked by the Lionesses’ European Championship triumph.
Last season's FA Cup runners-up City have seen something of a summer exodus, with Georgia Stanway departing to Bayern Munich, Caroline Weir moving to Real Madrid Femenino and Lucy Bronze joining up with Barcelona.

Veteran Jill Scott has been released, with City scouting Europe to bring in three players from Spain’s Primera Division - Leila Ouahabi, Deyna Castellanos and Laia Aleixandri - along with teenage forward Mary Fowler from Montpellier as they build a squad capable of challenging both domestically and in the Champions League.
They pipped United to the final Champions League berth and the red half of Manchester have reacted by making seven signings, including Canadian Olympic gold medallist Adriana Leon from West Ham, veteran striker Rachel Williams, Nikita Parris from Arsenal and French centre-back Aïssatou Tounkara.
Tounkara was part of the France squad that reached the semi-finals of Euro 2022 and United boss Marc Skinner believes her experience can help United finish in the top three.
“She will offer vital Champions League and European competition experience to our younger players, and a real maturity to our all-round defensive play," he said.
