McDonald's says 'we had no choice' as beloved burger to return after 10 years

After years of eager waiting, fan petitions, and constant buzz on social media, the legendary McRib is set to return to McDonald's menus in the UK. After months of speculation, the much-loved sandwich has been officially announced, meaning fans no longer have to travel overseas to indulge their cravings.

The McRib, with its juicy pork patty, zesty barbecue sauce, pickles, onions, and a soft homestyle bun, has garnered a devoted fanbase since it first hit the menu. Its comeback, set for October 16 for a limited period, showcases the loyalty of its enthusiasts.

Thomas O'Neill, Head of Menu at McDonald's UK, said the McRib "is more than just a sandwich; it's a phenomenon." He went on: "We have heard our fans loud and clear – the fan petitions and pleas on social - and after almost a decade of anticipation, we are thrilled to bring back this iconic menu item."

Deciding to being back the McRib was primarily due to popular demand from its fans, reports the Mirror. O'Neill acknowledged: "Knowing how well-loved the McRib is, we had very little choice - we had to make it happen.

"It was time to step up and satisfy the cravings of McRib enthusiasts across the country." Before the official announcement, fans were buzzing with excitement about the McRib's comeback, thanks to a few subtle clues shared by McDonald's.

A test notification appeared on the app saying "McRib_Test.notification_16.10.24," and unexpected sightings of the McRib on billboards and ads have only added to the speculation. It turns out, these rumours have now been officially confirmed.

Mr O'Neill added: "The McRib is back for a limited time only. So, grab your friends, head to your nearest McDonald's, and get ready to reunite with the saucy, savoury goodness
