McDonald’s hack to get quarter pounder cheaper than a cheeseburger

If you’re planning a lunchtime trip to McDonald’s today, upgrading your order from a cheeseburger to a quarter pounder could pay off and save you money. There’s a way to get the tasty treat for less than £1 for today only, saving shoppers a whopping £2.70.

This Monday (August 15), the fast food chain’s quarter pounder with cheese will be on offer for 99p, making it 20p cheaper than the Saver Menu cheeseburger, after its price increased for the first time in 14 years last month.

The popular menu item consists of a beef patty, topped with slivered onions, tangy pickles and two slices of melty American cheese on a sesame seed bun - consider it a beefed-up cheeseburger, if you’ll pardon the pun.

Usually priced at £3.69, those who order via the McDonald’s app can snap it up for far cheaper, and with the current cost of living crisis, every saving helps.

If it’s a Maccies breakfast you’re hankering for, the Double McMuffin will be on offer before 11am for £1.79. Shoppers can choose from double bacon and egg or double sausage and egg, to get Monday morning off on the right foot.

Customers will be able to earn points when they purchase one of these deals by opting in to MyMcDonald’s Rewards. The brand-new scheme means every penny spent equals one point, so this week’s offers will get you 179 points when ordering a double McMuffin or 99 points when picking up a quarter pounder with cheese.
