Team Rivers gear up for Gateway 2025 sports festival
Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has said that the 23rd edition of the National Sports Festival, which the state is hosting in 2026, will be a memorable experience for athletes and spectators.
It will be the first time Enugu State is hosting the National Sports Festival since its inception in 1973. The 2026 edition will also be the second time the fiesta is taking place in the South-East region after Imo State hosted the 1998 edition in Owerri.
Mbah made the pledge when he received the hosting rights award letter from the Director-General of the National Sports Commission, Bukola Olopade. The Enugu State Governor expressed gratitude to the NSC for presenting the State with the official hosting letter saying that it represented a proud moment for the people of Enugu State.
