'Mayhem' as 'more than a hundred' youths spill out onto streets after house party 'got out of hand'

Police were called in after huge numbers of youths gathered and spilled out onto streets following what is believed to have been a house party said to have 'got out of hand', according to reports today.

Officers are said to have responded to multiple 999 calls from Castleton in Rochdale on Saturday evening.

One witness - who described the resulting situation as 'mayhem' - claimed more than a hundred youths were involved and arrests were made by Greater Manchester Police, although this hasn't been confirmed.

Others showed police vans and cars arriving at the scene in pouring rain on Manchester Road, near the motorway bridge, as those involved ran up the road.

Officers on Manchester Road could be heard shouting 'off' and 'get off the street' in video footage being circulated on Facebook, as more police and a Tactical Aid Unit van arrived at the scene.

According to unconfirmed reports, a large number of those involved eventually walked off towards Slattocks and Middleton.

One witness said: "I came back from my dad's and saw loads of flashing lights.
