Max Verstappen tells rivals to keep mouths shut over budget cap speculation

Max Verstappen has offered his thoughts on the speculation around potential breaches of the 2021 budget cap

Reports emerged ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix that two teams might have gone over the budget cap from last season, with it claimed that Red Bull and Aston Martin are the two in question.

As yet, though, nothing is official and the FIA will be revealing their full findings next week more than likely, so it’s not until then we’ll see exactly who has done what with their finances in the previous year.

Even so, with the suggestion being that Red Bull were one of the teams, plenty was said by rivals around the story, with Christian Horner then blasting some of the comments as ‘defamatory.’

Indeed, it’s probably best if we all now wait and see what comes out in the FIA’s findings, and then whether sanctions need to be applied and to who, after that.

Verstappen was asked about all of the talk and for his thoughts, meanwhile, with him having a pretty blunt take on what other members of the paddock have had to say:

“Of course, then other teams start to talk about it while they have no information and I find that a bit silly.

“Just keep your mouth shut.”

The next few days are going to be fascinating in terms of this story, and everyone is eager to see what the results are going to be.

Christian Horner said to Sky Sports on Friday that he is of the opinion Red Bull were under the cap when they submitted their data at the start of this process in March, so let’s wait and see what comes out.
