Max Verstappen & Charles Leclerc's fascinating post-race chat at Bahrain GP

Charles Leclerc picked up a sensational victory in the first F1 race of the season whilst Max Verstappen fell short at the final hurdle.

For the majority of the race, Leclerc and Verstappen went toe-to-toe in what was an epic afternoon of racing.

Heading into the race, reigning champion Verstappen was aiming to get off to a brilliant start as he looks to win back-to-back championship titles.

Unfortunately, with just three laps remaining, Verstappen saw his race end in dramatic style which then allowed Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz to push into second to secure a famous one-two finish for Ferrari.

The win for Ferrari was their first since 2019.

Going into the race, Red Bull were huge favourites, whilst MercedesLewis Hamilton was eager to get back to winning ways. The Brit ended up finishing third overall.

However, the seven-time world champion will now be aiming to capitalise on Red Bull’s first race woes and establish some breathing room towards the top end of the table.

There was also more drama for Red Bull as Sergio Perez was unable to finish the race following a fuel pump issue as he looked to pip Hamilton on the final lap.

With that being said, last night belonged to Ferrari and Charles Leclerc. His maturity and smart decision making allowed him to come away with a huge win on the opening night.

After the race, both Verstappen and Leclerc paid respect to each other in what was a brilliant race.

During the conversation, Verstappen explained what happened towards the end of the race and stated: “It happens.”

The next race is set to take place in Saudia Arabia this weekend. By then, Red Bull will be itching to get back on pole position as they look to make up for what was a disappointing afternoon of action in Bahrain.
