Max Parrot wins Olympic snowboard slopestyle gold after judges miss ‘glaring’ error
It’s one of the most inspirational stories of the Beijing Winter Olympics - Max Parrot coming back from cancer to win gold in snowboard slopestyle.

Parrot claimed victory with a score of 90.96 on what appeared to be a clinical run at the Genting Snow Park Stadium on Monday afternoon, beating China’s Su Yiming (88.70) and fellow Canadian Mark McMorris (88.53).
However, replays of one of his tricks showed him failing to grab his board and instead clutching around his lower leg, meaning the maneuver was incomplete and should have been marked down.
Channel 7 commentators Mitch Tomlinson and Ryan Tiene noticed the error on replay.

“You did see him go for the grab, miss it twice and realised, ‘hey, if I don’t grab my leg’, I might get really smashed.
“But unfortunately for Max, he’s going to have points deducted.”
When Parrot’s score was announced, Tomlinson and Tiene expressed shock.
“Oh, did they not see that?”
“They didn’t see it - a 90.96, with a leg grab thrown in.
“That’s not good for snowboarding.
