Max Kilman explains how Leander Dendoncker deals with criticism from Wolves fans

Leander Dendoncker silenced his critics with a dominant display in Wolverhampton Wanderers’ 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

The Belgium international played a part in Raul Jimenez’s opener in north London before scoring his first Premier League goal of the season to clinch victory.

Dendoncker received criticism from some supporters following the 1-0 defeats to Norwich City and Arsenal after Wolves returned from the winter break.

Bruno Lage ignored Dendoncker’s critics to start the midfielder for the sixth successive match and the 26-year-old produced one of his best performances of the season.

And star defender Max Kilman has paid tribute to his teammate for his vital contribution versus Spurs.

"Leander's performances always go under the radar,” Kilman said. "He does the job and gives you a good performance every time. I'm delighted for him to get his goal and glad that people realise how good he has played.”

Asked how Dendoncker has been dealing with recent criticism behind-the-scenes, Kilman continued: "He's brilliant, nothing fazes him.

"He knows his task and he doesn't feel the pressure. You can see that when he performs on the pitch. He is very solid and helps us a lot.”

Wolves now sit just four points shy of fourth-placed West Ham, with two games-in-hand on David Moyes’ side ahead of their meeting in a couple of weeks.

Lage and the players have tried to avoid discussing the league table publicly, but supporters’ excitement is growing.

"It's a good result but we must keep our form going and keep the consistency,” added Kilman.

"If we want to be pushing to higher places in the league we need to start winning two or three games in a row and keeping up with the performances instead of winning and losing.
