Mauricio Pochettino to be 'considered' for England job amid Man United links after Chelsea exit

Former Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino will reportedly be considered as a candidate for the England job if Gareth Southgate leaves after the 2024 European Championships this summer.

The 52-year-old departed the Blues via mutual consent on Tuesday morning just 11 months after arriving at Stamford Bridge, following a sixth-place finish, a Carabao Cup final appearance and an FA Cup semi-final in his first season with the club. It's unclear whether he'll be set to return to life as a manager straight away, but rumours have put him at the forefront of Manchester United's shortlist if Erik ten Hag is to be sacked after the FA Cup final.

The Blues are now set on a four-man shortlist, which includes former Man United coach and now Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna, with other names like Leicester City's Enzo Maresca and Stuttgart manager Sebastian Hoeness also on the cards. United's new minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is yet to make a decision on Ten Hag's future at Old Trafford, but after a tough season with the Dutchman at the helm, they'll need to jump ship sooner rather than later if they want to snap up the right person for their new era at Man United.
