Mathys Tel to Man United transfer twist as Bayern Munich star drops huge hint in emotional scenes

Reported Manchester United transfer target Mathys Tel seemed to drop the biggest hint yet over his desire to leave Bayern Munich in the January transfer window following his side's win over Slovan Bratislava.

Tel has been linked with a move to the Premier League in the final week of the window with United, Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal all interested. Talks are understood to be ongoing over a move to Stamford Bridge with the Blues pushing for a permanent transfer while United prefer a loan.

On Wednesday night, Tel was named in Bayern's starting XI for the first time since the end of November after being an unused substitute in the Bundesliga wins over Wolfsburg and SC Freiburg and the Champions League loss at Feyenoord.

He played 62 minutes before being replaced by Kingsley Coman. Bayern are in action against Holstein Kiel on Saturday afternoon in their final fixture before the transfer window closes in England meaning Wednesday's outing could have been his final game for the club.

Following the 3-1 win, a video emerged on social media of Tel seeming to say goodbye to the Bayern Munich fans. The video shows him approach them, individually, and applaud them before giving one fortunate supporter his training coat.

The striker then took a number of pictures with fans and shook their hands before returning to the pitch. Asked by Sky Germany if he had played his last game for the club, he said: "I don't know."

It could have been a simple message of gratitude from Tel towards the home fans but with the speculation around him, it looks to be a goodbye.
