Masterful O'Sullivan through to European Masters final
Ronnie O'Sullivan produced another impressive display to dispatch China's Liang Wenbo 6-2 and book his place in the final of the BetVictor European Masters, where he will take on Fan Zhengyi.
The six-time world champion stepped up a gear after losing the opening frame of Saturday's evening session in Milton Keynes to take control after three successive half-century breaks.
O'Sullivan then added clearances of 127 and 109 before a 56 break helped Liang stop the rot in the seventh - but it was only delaying the inevitable as the 'Rocket' sealed victory after clinching a tactical eighth frame 71-51.
Earlier, Liang's compatriot Fan beat Scotland's Graeme Dott 6-4 to reach the final of a ranking event for the first time.
The 21-year-old, who had made it to the last eight of the German Masters during January, fended off a late fightback from the veteran 2006 world champion.
Fan had looked well set for a comfortable victory after taking four of the opening five frames, reeling off a run of 131 in the second.
Dott, 44, then rallied to reduced the deficit again at 5-4 with a half-century break, but the Chinese world number 80 responded with 84 to clinch victory in the 10th frame.
