'Massive boost for Van Bronckhorst' - 47 y/o now drops 'huge' Rangers claim before Old Firm

Football Insider pundit Noel Whelan has now shared a Glasgow Rangers claim as they prepare to play in the Old Firm derby following the international break.

As per the official website of the Ibrox faithful, the Teddy Bears have as many as 11 players from the first team on international duty, and they do not play club football again until the big Scottish Premiership clash at home to Celtic on April 3rd.

They have suffered a slight dip in form since February, when they started the month by losing 3-0 to the Hoops, and have since dropped points against Dundee United and Motherwell in the league (Sky Sports).

Speaking to Football Insider, Whelan, 47, has claimed that the break will be a ‘massive boost’ for Giovanni Van Bronckhorst and his team:

“This break will be a massive boost for Van Bronckhorst.

“It’s so difficult when you come back from Europe, and we’ve seen that in their performances.

“The games, the travel, the short turnaround – it’s really not easy to play both, it’s draining.

“Rangers have got this never-say-die spirit, and they need to. They know that if you don’t get anything out of a league game, then they’ve gift-wrapped that extra lead to Celtic.

“This will be huge now for Rangers to recharge the batteries and take stock ahead of that massive Old Firm game.

“They’ll be looking at that game as an opportunity to swing the title race back in their favour.”

Given the dip in form and results, the international break will only benefit the squad in terms of freshening up and getting ready for the derby when they come back.

The Light Blues have now slipped to three points behind their city rivals in the table, and so a win against the Hoops would simply be massive.
