Marlon Pack to Portsmouth: What do we know so far? Is it likely to happen?

Marlon Pack looks like he will be on his way out of Cardiff this summer, with the player’s current deal in Wales set to come to an end during the offseason.

He hasn’t been offered fresh terms by the Bluebirds and once his current contract runs out, he will be able to sign for any new team on a free transfer.

With the 31-year-old becoming available then, it has unsurprisingly led to plenty of interest in his services. That interest comes from both the Championship and League One – and he will likely have his pick of where to play next.

One team heavily linked with the player is Portsmouth and it seems as though the third tier outfit could get a deal done. But what do we know and will it happen?

What do we know so far?

As reported by The News, it looks as though Pompey are indeed the favourites to land Pack when his contract comes to an end. It might mean him dropping down a league but it looks as though the player is up for the challenge at Fratton Park.

He hasn’t been short of interest, with Bristol City willing to try and keep him in the Championship. Even though the offer has been there for the player to remain in the second tier though, it looks as though a deal might not be struck after all.

That leaves just Danny Cowley’s side and Shrewsbury in the hunt for his signature – and the player will have a choice to make over where he wants to play.

Is it likely to happen?

It really does look highly likely that the 31-year-old will end up playing for Portsmouth. It seems as though there is solid interest from the League One side in Pack and if a deal can be agreed, then it should be signed, sealed and delivered soon.
