Mark Travers warns Bournemouth teammates ahead of crunch Nottingham Forest clash

Bournemouth goalkeeper Mark Travers has warned his teammates to focus on getting a result against Nottingham Forest rather than the return of former Cherries duo Steve Cook and Sam Surridge in tonight’s huge Championship contest.

The pair both left the South Coast club to join Forest in January and have enjoyed strong starts to life in the East Midlands.

When fit, Cook has been ever-present in the back three alongside Joe Worrall and Scott McKenna while Surridge has been on fire since Keinan Davis’ injury.

The striker has now scored more goals in 18 appearances for the Reds than he did in 43 games for Bournemouth – including five in his last four games.

Forest arrive at the Vitality Stadium this evening knowing that anything but a win will likely kill their hopes of beating the Cherries to second place and automatic promotion.

Speaking to the Daily Echo, Travers recognised the threat that Surridge will offer in the crunch game on the South Coast.

He said: “Obviously he’s doing really well at the moment, scoring a lot of goals which is great for him.

“I think it’s been great for him obviously going to Forest in January and back with the manager he had at Swansea.

“So it’s been great for him to find that form and hopefully he doesn’t have it too much on Tuesday!”

The Bournemouth keeper also warned his teammates not to be distracted by the arrival of Cook and Surridge.

“I know they have Steve Cook and obviously Sam Surridge,” said Travers. “But once the game comes we just have to focus on getting our result.

“We know his (Surridge’s) attacking threat.

“(Ahead of) Tuesday night, we’ll be looking at clips and trying to do it the best we can and we just have to treat it as a normal game.”
