Mark Lawrenson makes key observation in delivering verdict on West Ham vs Wolves

Mark Lawrenson has offered his prediction on Wolves crunch Premier League fixture away at West Ham on Sunday.

Wolves suffered late heartbreak on Thursday evening when Alexandre Lacazette's deflected effort deep into stoppage time condemned the visitors to a 2-1 defeat at Arsenal.

The defeat was a real blow for Wolves, who are now six points behind fourth-placed Manchester United, although they do have a game in hand over the Red Devils.

Despite the loss, Wolves remain in the race to finish in the top four this season and qualify for the Champions League.

So far this term, Bruno Lage's side have claimed wins against the likes of Spurs and Manchester United. But Lawrenson has predicted a difficult fixture for they when they face fellow top-four contenders West Ham.

The former Liverpool defender has gone with a 2-1 win for the Hammers.

He told BBC Sport: "Wolves are always tough to beat but they played on Thursday at Arsenal, which will help West Ham, who have had a full week off to prepare for this.

"The Hammers need a win too, after two draws in a row. Those weren't bad results in isolation but if they want to maintain their challenge for fourth place, then they can't afford to drop any more points this weekend."

Following this weekend's trip to West Ham, Wolves have a series of games against struggling Premier League teams.

Bruno Lage's side face Crystal Palace, Watford, Everton and Leeds before a derby clash against Aston Villa.
